The troubles with my work in progress continue. I’m confident that means it will be great or a dismal failure. I reached the 82,000 word mark this weekend. I won’t say that I won’t change the last three chapters, but they are good enough for a first draft. The rest of it may have some major changes. Have you ever sung a song with perfect pitch, but then realized you were singing in the wrong key? I feel that way with my work in progress (WIP). I’ve passed the 75,000 word mark on my WIP and I am preparing to go into the final showdown, a scene in which our hero chooses the woman that no one else will take. When I reached the 50,000 word mark and blew up the house this weekend, I celebrated. It’s a totally arbitrary number with no real meaning, I know, but it gave me a sense of accomplishment.
