Readers and authors sharing great edgy fiction that inspires...

The second book I wrote, back in 2003, is coming out in May. The guy who interviewed me for our local newspaper had read parts of it whe we were in a writing group together, and, with the bio and story on my cozy release, The Gold Standard last month, called my forthcoming book, Healing Grace, a parnormal. I've been calling it an intrigue so as not to scare my readers. I ripped off miracles from the Bible, so how paranormal can it be?

Depends.

I intially thought that having two books release so close together would be a good thing to keep momentum going. I've had very good comments from the readers of the sweet cozy, even from the people who initially rejected it. It's selling on Amazon. A few people have said they're waiting for my next one. Will they be disappointed? There are romantic elements in each. The cozy is part of a series, which I tried to explain needs a new publisher to pick it up, since Barbour's HP:Mysteries line closed, among other issues (and when I saw the numbers I nearly cried.). Grace is supposed to be the first in a series, too. It's not sweet, and it's not a cozy mystery. It's about a spiritually gifted woman in desperate need of forgiveness and her journey back to faith.

As I've started the internet interview tours and promotional talks and mailings, I've tried to make it clear that these tales are quite different. I find myself appologetic over the sweet story. I suppose this is what is meant by branding yourself. Trouble is, I thought of the mystery as a foot in the door book. I'm pleased it's getting read, even on GoodReads. It's not that I don't like writing sweet, it's just not how I want to define myself. But I'll continue doing it if it sells.

I'm a bit nerve-wracked over how readers will take me - could be one of those make or break deals.
