Perspective

Ever have times when worry looms like a huge obstacle? I’ve been working on my focus and my view of God. According to NASA, “Scientists estimate that there are more than 100 billion galaxies scattered throughout the visible universe. The Milky Way is a huge city of stars, so big that even at the speed of light it would take 100,000 years to travel across it.” When anxiety creeps up and sends me reeling, I need to remember that the same God who created the inf… Continue

Waiting/Moving Forward/Running

Waiting/Moving Forward/Running Through God’s grace, I was blessed last week to attend the American Christian Fiction Writer’s (ACFW) Conference in Denver, Colorado. I loved visiting with my buddies, attending wonderful classes, meeting new friends, worshiping, hugging my agent, and pitching to an acquisition editor for a publisher. God blessed me abundantly. The editor requested to see my full manuscript! Woo hoo! With all the fun, life is still filled with waiting. Even when a publisher accep… Continue

Chosen -- He picked me!

During my early years, I wasn’t the strongest, tallest, or smartest. I could run fast, until my knee blew out in a pickup game of football with the big guys in the neighborhood. During recess or gym, I was the last to be picked. If I didn’t get on the bus quickly after school, the bus driver had to force someone to share a seat with me. Yes, I was, Forrestina Gump. Even with a loving and supportive family, those lonely, painful years were difficult. At night, I would snuggle in my bed with my s… Continue

Something Stinketh

Woo Hoo! The Christian Pulse published another one of my articles, Something Stinketh. “A strange odor emanated from inside our refrigerator. I knew it was bad when even our teenage son was disgusted. Rolling up my sleeves, I held my breath, then wrestled strange mutations from the vegetable drawer and deposited them in the trash. Bins were wiped and shelves cleaned until they glistened. Taking a step back, I drew in a deep breath of fresh air.” Please link here to read the rest…… Continue

Exhaling Trust

"Hope looks at all that is true about the present, lifts the circumstances of life into the tender, loving hands of God--and exhales in trust." Shela Walsh "Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him" (Ps 62:5 NIV). Continue

Moving forward to a New Year

My motto for 2008 was “2008 is going to be great.” From a worldly standpoint our 2008 didn’t turn out great. However, in the Heavenly realm we’ve been abundantly blessed. God’s ways are often opposite to society’s beliefs. Man’s viewpoint says those with the most toys wins, and a life without troubles and problems are the ultimate goal. The Bible tells us, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseve… Continue

When The Healing Comes

God heals. I know. He’s healed me from cancer, removed tumors, and kept me alive when doctor’s said I wouldn’t survive. And yet, I still wait for healing from Lyme disease. I’m not alone. For those of us waiting for healing, Lisa Bevill wrote this song… When the Healing Comes By Lisa Bevill I’m here before you Jesus on bended knee Praying for an answer, that’s my plea. Oh I’ve been crying for a healing that hasn’t come. So I’ll just keep waiting for that day. Oh… you’re so mysterious … that’s… Continue

Life hurts

A friend with Lyme disease called the other day in so much pain she cried and gasped between words. She wanted to talk to someone who understood, who wouldn’t judge, and who would be there with her through this horrible journey. Kneeling on my floor, I lifted her up in prayer to the only One who has the answers, the healing, and the comfort so desperately needed. Our world is hurting, drowning in difficulties—an ocean full of hands reaching up through the stormy seas longing for someone to help… Continue

Grab the Leash!

Woo Hoo! The Christian Pulse published another one of my articles today. “Our little dog can’t wait to get out for his evening walk. He doesn’t care where he’s going—he just wants to get there as fast as possible. Pulling against his leash, he coughs and hacks his way down the sidewalk. Pull…cough….tug…. hack…. the pressure continues as he sniffs, paws, and explores the world….” To read the rest… Grab the Leash Thank yo… Continue

Good enough for Heaven?

Woo Hoo! The Christian Pulse published another article today. “There’s an old joke about two hunters in the woods being chased by a bear. One hunter yells out to the other as he runs past him, “I don’t have to be faster than the bear, I just have to beat you!” Unfortunately most people think the same is true about gaining entrance to heaven. Just do better than the others, be good and it will all work out fine. The problem this presents is: Who says how much goodness is required? Who is keepi… Continue

Palm Ponderings

Hi Edgy Friends, I have a new article on The Christian Pulse. “With ocean rhythm in my ears, the sun’s warmth lulls me to a dreamy state as I sway in the hammock stretched between two majestic coconut palm trees. Through my tinted glasses, I ponder the palms that stand straight and tall in spite of the hurricane that roared through only last year.” I would love if you would read the rest of the article on The Christian Pulse at…… Continue
