I've been writing on my third ms. Nowhere ready to have anybody take a look at it yet. Maybe by first week of December, though.
I'm dealing with the day job intruding too. Goes with the territory, I guess.
Thanks for the feedback on my mini-blog. The Lord has been dealing with me a lot lately ... redefining success ... seeing failure as an asset not a 'failing.'
Thanks so much, David for the awesome words!!! That's just awesome to hear! And thanks for the heads up about that OSC book. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for that--hadn't hear of it. Sounds like just my cup of tea. :)
Thanks for the kudos on my book covers! B&H does a fabulous job coming up with those and I'm so blessed to have them (it took me eight years to get published and many, many rejection letters:)
Have a blessed day!
Jamie
PS I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and know the horrors of those twisters intimately! In fact, all my nightmares have tornadoes in them. Gives me the willies just thinking about it! And here I sit typing to you in the middle of a thunderstorm in the middle of the day! LOL.
Thanks for the comments, David! I have two adult married children and know so well how they are only "on loan" to us. They grow up way too fast and they are with us such a short time!
Thanks for the encouragement! We in the trenches need it! Thanks for being a blessing!
Hey, Dave. I know Kansas has an edge on tornadoes. But two years ago, when Hurricane Ivan blew up the east coast, I saw a funnel cloud descend into a F-2 in the farmer's field across from my house not a 1/4 mile away. It scared the livin' daylights out of me. It looked huge, black, and it tore across the field. I thank God it lifted and dissipated before reaching a housing development. I never thought I'd see a tornado in Maryland.
Speculative/Edgy Suspense with a cup of technology & a pinch of paranormal to taste.
About Me:
44 year old father of 5, husband of 1 - swept among amber waves of grain in the Land of Oz ... the frontage road to tornado alley.
A 6 word memoir that rounds it out might be: "Reluctant Geek, now deep fries words."
I've been writing for 1.5 years and studying the craft concurrently, plus another 8 months or so. Thus far have attended a total of (3) writer's conferences sans this year.
I have one complete novel - a 'techno-suspense/cyber-stalker' story that is resting in peace under a pair of mismatched socks. It was my bachelor's in the "School of Hardwood Knocks".
I'm currently working on (3) wips with the express purpose of finding the best match for my voice. One of those will be completed in its entirety by mid-August.
I climbed off the IT corporate hamster wheel two years ago, one that ran 24/7/365 & now teach information technology classes at the community college level.
I love the mountains, writing, bicycling, theology, Celtic music, classical-crossover & ambient music, singing, thunderstorms, reading, and did I mention writing?

I really liked the way you wrote, and the way you critiqued my ms. It proved very helpful when you used to do those 'cold reads.'
So, may God's grace get you through whatever you're doing and wherever you are, which is now difficult for all of us.
And maybe, just maybe, every once in a while we can compare crazy ideas...
Ya boi,
