I really didn't know what all the fuss was about and picked up a copy of the book. I didn't think the writing was terrible, but then it is my understanding that the book has been picked up by a publisher ~ so I may have seen an edited copy. I didn'…

Thanks Tom for writing this. I think you captured the essence of why this book has captured the imaginations of so many readers. If you read the reviews in mags like ChristianityToday, those who are attacking it are the guardians of evangelical powe…

I read it because my teenage son wanted to read it. If I'm not sure about something dealing with God I like to read it first. So at first the gender thing threw me a little. But I kept reading and was glad I did. It got my approval to let my teen re…

I think when we write, we have an obligation to write the best we can. Good writing is important.

I read “The Shack” and totally enjoyed the story. I am a woman of faith and found it quite well written, (only a very few places dragged out.) I found most of it, entertaining and enlightening. My personal opinion was that the story, brought some hu…

Several people have recommended The Shack to me...none of them writers. They all were profoundly moved by it. I didn't know the book was self published.

It sounds to me like The Shack was trying to be 'hip' as it made its point. Which, unfortunately, can sometimes confuse the issues that we literally take as the foundations of our faith. I think that from one of the original posts, as an example, J…

I agree. Story first, writing second. But the writing is very important. It must be good enough to transmit the ideas effectively while remaining nearly invisible.

Ginny,
I am in the middle of Stuck in the Middle, and I'm really enjoying the book! It is nice to see a primary character who is only 'playing church' and realizes that she's missing the key relationship. So many are portrayed as perfect Christians. Thanks for creating characters who grow through the book!

I'll post a review on Feb 27 with CFBA at hisreadinglist.blogspot.com. Gotta go...I want to finish the book tonight (dishes can wait!).

I'm a writer of humorous novels, a speaker, and an avid scuba diver. I launched my career as a novelist with the release the edgy Christian chick lit novel, Just As I Am, in 2006, and have been cranking out God-honoring fiction ever since.
