I was delighted to read your interview and leave a comment. Love that you're an electrician. It sounds so...out of the box chick lit-y. Hmm... Stay happy and have a blessed day :)

About Me:
I’ve been reading about so many writers and felt it was about time, to let others know why I began this journey.

In all honesty, I never …ever imagined, dreamed of… nor thought about writing a book, as others have. I have a job! A good job, I do electrical work with my husband. (Occasionally I have to do some really hard work…pulling wire, digging ditches. Don’t take me wrong, I always thank God, for the work.)

So, you are asking, how come start, The Writing Life?

Well, basically….I made a promise. Yes, a promise to, “Tell the Stories.” I’m glad I did!

Writing at this time in my life has actually been a tremendous challenge; it has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. However, in doing so, I have found a tremendous amount of pleasure from my accomplishment. At-a-boys from friends and relatives, and numerous new networking acquaintances have been the icing on the cake so-to-speak….and like the cherry on top; using the same ‘word-of-mouth’ skills we use in the electrical business, is working.

There are pros and cons to every business though, and if you take into consideration the hours and hours of writing, editing etc., well; it’s not an easy task. In fact it’s been a lot more difficult than all my electrical jobs combined.

Do I feel the journey has been worth it?

Absolutely! Because there’s something else… something that I discovered; I didn’t know I had… the ability and dedication to persevere… to do it right. Two years and two hundred and something pages…I’ve given it my all. I’ve written a book!

Now I know you are wondering, what my expectations are when there are so many books and such an enormous stack to choose from? That I’ll leave in God’s hands. But to be totally honest…Right now nothing would make me happier than a reader commenting…. “Great Story. Even, if it’s a little...‘Edgy Christian’.”

This is what keeps me going...

From a new friend, an e-mail...

Val-
You don't know me, but i am C----- L-----, M----- B-----'- daughter-in-
law. She gave me the book you wrote in for me, and now that i have
some down time, i am half way through it. I could sit and read it all
at once but, i have to say, with a book like this, i like to absorb
the story. I wanted to comment on what i have read or learned so
far....
You have given me some good advice through this book in love and
marriage. i have been married for going on 28 y… Continue

Hope is in believing...

This isn’t exactly a newsletter...I will try and work on that for June-July. This is one of those mid-month notes. The kind where I stop everything because I have to tell you something, now!

As you all know, I made a promise a few years back to ‘tell the stories’...and I have been obedient in keeping my word. Almost every day I get my chance to tell somebody about the miracles Bill and I have shared.

But, the fact is I couldn’t wait to share this. What a crazy year!

Let me start... this year… Continue

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle-my version

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle
my version

My husband Bill, has always loved to read. I remember the very first time I laid eyes on him...he was reading. Over the years I believe he’s probably averaged a book a week and there were times I felt like hitting him over the head with his books. You know, those times when I wanted him to do something...anything besides sit around in comfort and silence, with his other love.

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve managed to find happy mediums, and compromise… Continue

What a difference a day makes...

It’s funny…most of us wake up, have some coffee and start our day. Typically-just like every other day. We go about our business…working, (or in today’s economy wishing we were working) and attempting to do our best to make ends meet. And, so while life happens all around us it’s only occasionally that there’s something that changes the daily routine.

Today I got up and went through a very ordinary morning…thanking God, that Bill and I had two jobs on the schedule. About 10:00 a.m. one canceled… Continue
