Get the Inside Story

I am right at the end of the rough draft of a new book, titled Inside Story (follows Frasier Island and Finding Marie). It's at 96,000 words and counting. It feels good. Next week I'll let it sit while my critique buddies review it and I finish a revision for another book.
The Lord has blessed me with a new reader for this book--a Navy man who (I hope) will help me catch any glitches that would reveal to the world how militarily ignorant I am. How did I find him? He emailed me after he and his w… Continue

Aww! Thanks, Nike for mentioning my book.
And Susan, the things that most people think are edgy, I don't even blink at..but part of that's because I grew up unchurched and lived most of my life up into my mid twenties like "anything goes."

So seeing "cleavage" in a CBA book wouldn't bother me a bit.

BTW...Nike I'll post portions of ASF in the section where folks are posting more edgy portions of their books. Thanks for your kind words. You have me on cloud 9!
Hugs,

Cheryl

It didn't offend me. :)

BTW...after I wrote that comment I went back to reading the second book (A Soldier's Family) in Cheryl Wyatt's series. I turned the page and she had her H staring at the h's calf which he thought was shown to advantage in a very high heel and her dress was flattering her figure, not to mention her earrings held him captive. Mind you this is SHLI. Cheryl's H was dealing with the emotional and physical feelings he was having at seeing the woman he loved looking so good. Bravo to SH for publishing it. Bravo to Cheryl for writing it.

But this is exactly what single Christian men and women who are falling in love have to deal with. The women want to look really good on a date. Not "come hither," but really good. And if he's in love and she's looking really good...hey he's a guy, he's going to have to deal with a bunch of crazy feelings. But we don't want Christian women to start looking like feminazis when they go on dates. They don't have to wear combat boots and/or burkas. But they are going to need the Holy Spirit, bigtime. :)

Yeah, thanks. Here's the deal: one character told another that the heroine had used her physical charms to get what she wanted, and it gave the heroine reason to think about her own motives, actions, etc. I didn't think it would be a problem to use the word "cleavage" in that context.

I to am responding to your email cos i cant find the post.
It doesn't offend me in the way you mentioned cleavege as Nike said the heroine at that stage is unsaved. and the way you put it its not mentioned in a bad way.

Thanks for your comments, Nike! It seemed to me that in that context it wouldn't be "offensive," just realistic.

I'm responding to the email I got about "cleavege." It doesn't offend me if a nonsaved person speaks and acts like a nonsaved person.

As I think I understand your email it would also be another unsaved person who makes the charge against the heroine (also unsaved at that point) that she's used her assests to get what she wants. This leaves open if this is true or not.

I think we have to write about women and the actual things women face. Charges like this are made against both nonsaved and saved women. They can be completely false, or true. But we live in a world today that one of the fastest way to side-swipe your political adversary (and that could be on the job) is to make such a charge.

There is another area I'd like to address. God made women with breasts and hips. They have to be covered, for sure, but we don't have to deny they are there. God made women's hips to function in a certain way so that we do have some sway, bounce, grace, ease of movement that men don't have, in some a waddle. This is the way our Creator made our parts to function. Certainly we as believers should not accentuate this manner of moverment, but I also see no need to deny it.

I don't know how this can be approached in Christian fiction, but I do believe we have to start edging toward it.

Is this for Just Cause? I was just looking to make another order from SH and was going to put your book in my order. That will have to wait a few weeks due to funds, but it will happen.

I also want to get another copy of Cheryl's book for a friend.
