I've just finished reading Watch Over Me by Christa Parrish. I enjoyed this story, the characters and especially her choice of how the deaf boy communicated throughout the story. I had one major part I disliked.... IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THIS AND PL...

I really wanted so badly to like Twilight. I'm not one of those struggling writers who harbors resentment against newbies like Stephenie Meyers making it big on their first book. I love seeing people succeed! I love vampire novels and fantasy--so I was on pins and needles waiting to get to read it. I had very high expectations! But I kept finding my mind wandering and not caring that I'd just skimmed past six pages. I'd go back and find out I didn't miss anything. And the unrealistic exploits of Bella. Hey, I was a geek in highschool, so I usually root for the underdog, but in this case I just wanted to tell her to stop whining.

Good luck on the novel you're starting. Romance-suspense seems to be a good genre to get into!

Hi Stormi, I'd say think of it as world-building. If you use words and lingo from the 20's, give enough of a background (without sounding too preachy and infodumpy) so that folks will understand it. But don't overdo it either. Sometimes we research so much we start feeling we have to drop all our research into a novel. God will guide you. -C

Calling all authors! (getting a head start this time)

For two Christmases I have done what I call the Twelve Days of Christmas book giveaway extravaganza! Well I am trying to get a head start this time so even though it is still a few months away I would like to invite all authors that would like to participate. Normally I would do a interview, but this time I think I am going to do sort of a themed idea. If I get more than 12 people do not worry that will be fine, I would like to expand and do the 25 days of Christmas so if I get a lot of people t… Continue
