A Lifestyle for a Healthy Brain

A few days ago I posted A Lifestyle for a Healthy Brain. I believe this post has information you will find useful in your everyday life and as a writer (not that the two are separate). I'm going to post the first paragraph below and if you want to read more, please stop by and visit. Obviously, these ideas don't originate with me, but I'm taking what I know as an educator and making it helpful to fellow writers… Continue

Come Over and View Two Videos

On my regular blog http://seanslagle.blogspot.com/ I have posted two great videos - one of Karen Kingsbury and one of Ted Dekkar. The Dekkar video is especially interesting for this group because he talks about being an edgy writer. Come on over and let me know what you think.

Salt of the Earth

The world needs us, needs our voices, our stories, our direction. They will never admit that they need us, but they do.

I am reminded of Jesus' words, "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men." (Matthew 5:13, NIV) Is it unreasonable to think that we are the salt of the publishing world as well? Take a look at salt. It preserves and keeps things from rotting.… Continue

Nothing edgy about this picture. My son and I are hanging out at a Pacers game. Actually, we were there to see Lebron James.

I hope you enjoy it. Don't mind if you see a few typos. Long story but the wrong copy was sent to the printer and the one without the typos (not many) never got sent! Argh.

I watched the Ted Dekkar video and I agree with what he said: to reach the world you have to speak in their language.

I subscribe to the ACFW Indiana Chapter's e-loop (I think I signed up from the ACFW website). It's informative and I have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful Indiana authors there. I have signed with several Indiana authors too and that has been great fun! I haven't, as of yet, attended any of the local meetings (I believe they are scattered around the state) but hope to as my schedule allows.
You should join us online! We would love to have you!!
I think it's only $12.00 to belong to the Indiana ACFW as long as you are a member of the national group.
Hope that helps!

My kids are showing interest in instruments. My wife and I are both musically inclined, so who knows. It's not something I will try to force out of them to live out unfulfilled dreams or anything. But it's interesting to see them working out their future paths already.

I teach for Grand Canyon University, Rio Salado College, and University of Phoenix. I only teach online. I used to do traditional teaching, but I have two little ones now so I stay at home and teach. Isn't it great? I love teaching!

Struthers is in northeast Ohio, just by the Pennsylvania line. I haven't been in a band for about ten years. I don't even have a drum set any more. But I do miss is sometimes.
