Hi Everyone!

I'm in the last stretch, and will be sending my manuscript for editing sometime in November. That is, if I stick with my plan, which I've been told to do. I'll be working hard over the next few months, but it is exciting to see a dream become reality.

Last week I joined Mean Street Ministries.

We walked the ‘Fax,’ knocking on motel doors to ask if people needed anything. We had home-made burritos to offer, toiletries and bready sweets. There were diapers and wipes, coloring books and crayons. And Bibles for those who wanted them. The burritos were really good. Last week, late in the evening, someone called and I missed it. I was getting ready to go watch a movie with my youngest two when I saw the flashing light on my answer machine. I seriously would’ve gone to bed not knowing about this call… The message came from Elk Run, where my mother is living, and said, simply, “Give us a call as soon as you get this message.” Nothing else. I have 3 boys who live in the basement, which generates a lot of jokes about boys who sit around in their underwear, drinking beer and playing video games. But that's another story.

The laundry room also resides in the basement, and there is a long metal pipe, about 3 inches in diameter, that goes up through the ceiling and serves as a vent for all the gasses generated by the, uh, equipment (ha! you thought I was going to say 'boys' didn't you??).
