You do have to get past the foul language and stuff. But what he says about writing is very true. I love how he talks about a story being like an archeological find and the writer's job is to unearth it bit by bit. And my favorite line comes when ...

I'm laughing at my postings on this now! "Willing Blood" won Editor's Choice, and many of the people I thought would ban me from my critique group loved it. And AWR just accepted another horror I wrote :). I've got a few more submitted to various ...

About Me:
I am an avid reader, and always have been, of mostly fantasy/sci-fi. I started with books like "A Wrinkle in Time" and never stopped. The writing bug bit in highschool, but I saw myself as an artist back then, and nothing else. Drawing was a passion, but over the years that passion ventured into other territories. I decided in August 2007 to finally write the novel that had been chomping at the back of my brain through it all. Those writing bugs just don't give up.

The result is "Finding Angel"--a young adult fantasy. I've been trying to find an agent/publisher for months now, but am, and have been from the beginning, afraid it's a bit too Christian for the secular market, but too secular for the Christian market. I am pressing on, and working on book two in the trilogy.

My short fiction:
"Eyes on the Hilltop"--Christian Fiction Online Magazine (July 2009)
"Willing Blood"--The Absent Willow Review, Editor's Choice Award (August 2009)
"Sparrows"--Einstein's Pocket Watch (Oct. 2009)
"Eyes on the Hilltop"--joyful! (Oct. 2009)
"The Artist"--Mindflights (Nov. 2009)
"The Gift"--Digital Dragon (Nov. 2009)
limerick--Vampyr Verse anthology (Nov. 2009)
"A Day Better Spent"--The Absent Willow Review (January 2010)

I also have personal essays published and forthcoming in Sunday School mags and anthologies, including a fantasy-infused personal experience story in "Grandmother's Necklace" which will release in 2010.

I'm a homschooling mom, former teacher, and have a B.S. in Biology. Artist and science geek :).

"Editor's Choice"...my story? Yep :).

I was going to wait until the official announcement on Sept 1st, but I am just flat-out too impatient. So, I'm saying it now:

My recently published short story "Willing Blood" was selected "Editor's Choice" in The Absent Willow Review!!!!

I am so excited!!!

Short story in The Absent Willow Review

My short horror story, "Willing Blood," has just come out in The Absent Willow Review (www.absentwillowreview.com). It's an allegorical horror story--so I'd say that puts it pretty well in the edgy category.

This was actually the very first short story I ever wrote, so I was SO excited to find a home for it. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to check it out.

Karina Fabian at my blog!

Visit my blog at www.kat-findingangel.blogspot.com to find out about Karina Fabian's experiences writing her book Magic, Mensa, and Mayhem, which is set in my home state of Florida! She's got some really cool things to say, and I loved interviewing her. Loved her book, too!!!!!

My First "Interview"

I've just been interviewed for the first time. Granted, it was by a teenager on her blog. But I write teen fiction, so to me, this is a great opportunity! Let's face it, teens listen to other teens, and I want the word out so when I get an agent and publisher, I will already have an audience.

You can check it out at http://katiedid95.weebly.com/book-pond.html.

Happy reading!

Kat

Yes, but if you had another you, she could do all the boring stuff, and then you wouldn't need more time. So, there's a question! Given the choice, more time in the day, or any extra you, which would you choose?

Yes, I'm in a nutty mood again. See what sleep deprivation does.

It's good to meet other Homeschool families, especially Christian ones!
Yeah, schooling and family take up majority of my time, but from time to time I am able to sit down and push out 8-10 pages of my book... so hopefully it will keep flowing easily and I can accomplish this dream. =)
It was nice to meet ya!

Thank you, Kat, for the warm welcome and the wonderful comments. Yes, God has taken me to some strange places in fiction where I just scratch my head and say, "you're in charge." It's an awesome journey though and I wouldn't trade the writing life for anything in the world.

Thanks for sharing those sites with me! I had not seen those. I've recently gotten involved with a message board called The Anomaly. They are a fun group - Christian sci-fi authors!

And just hold onto that idea that God will see your publishing through in His time. That's what gets me by, too. ;o) Waiting is the worst part!!

I quite agree that the world needs more sci-fi chicks! ;o) Yeah, the writing is the fun part and the rest is all business. But YA is booming! It's great that you're getting your work out there! :o)
