My crit partner and I were talking about this earlier today. You might know point A and point C, but getting from one to the other can be a HUGE challenge.

I recently judged a writer's contest (not Genesis) and I think that while the beginning is critical, the writing has to carry and make sense and be believable, too. The two I judged started out fine but kind of went awry from there. Had they held ...

About Me:
I'm a disciple, wife, mother, teacher, musician and writer. I jumped into this writing journey in June of 2008 by joining ACFW, and reading every book on the craft of writing I could get my hands on (still reading and learning). In October 2008, I launched my blog, WordVessel. In November, I participated in my first NaNoWriMo, and completed my first novel, "These Roads Lead Home." The book is under consideration, and I'm trying to catch up on things that got pushed to the side during the novel-writing process.

Louder Than Words

We've all heard the expression: "Actions speak louder than words." I've always believed this. You can tell someone you love them time and time again, but unless your actions prove it, your words are wasted.

In my study of the craft, I realized that the same is true for our characters...

How To Write Character Emotion - Curiosity

Synonyms: inquisitiveness, interest, questioning (think about a child), prying, snoopiness, intrusiveness, nosiness, intrigue

Once again, I believe there are degrees of curiosity, but this time from the synonyms that have a positive slant to those that are more negative: desire to learn, inquisitiveness, intrigue, interest, questioning, intrusiveness, snoopiness, nosiness, prying

Quote: "Curiosity is lyin… Continue

How To Write Character Emotion - Contentment

Ahh...contentment. There's nothing quite like it.

Let's dig into it with our brains and see if we can find fresh ways to convey it on the page.

Synonyms: satisfaction, gratification, happiness, pleasure, peace, ease, serenity, comfort
