Thanks--that clarifies it for me. I'm not familiar with Abingdon and wasn't sure if you handle solely Chrsitain material for that audience or if you have different divisions, like Hachette and others do. I'll prepare accordingly and see you in April. Have a wonderful spring and hope you all ride out the economic turbulence without much carnage. (BTW, if you have a hankering, you can look at my Web site page that gives the quick pitch for my contemporary books: http://www.cslakin.com/contemporary.html Thanks so much! Susanne

Thanks, Barbara. Quick question. Two of my psych thrillers are ABA, a little too edgy for CBA. Would you still be interested to hear about them and read a synopsis? They are represented by Nancy Ellis agency. The third I'll know today whether it made the finals for the Zondervan First Novel competition. I wrote that for CBA. Thanks and I look forward to meeting you at MH. I live just down the street from the conference center :)

Hi Barbara, what is your policy regarding queries from authors? How do you prefer being contacted? Are you objectionable to a pre-query before Mount Hermon, to see if you might be interested in certain manuscripts? I've found it saves the editor's time at the conference when we know ahead if a work is not of interest. On the other hand, sometimes an editor has agreed to look at a manuscipt in a genre he/she normally doesn't look at, just out of curiosity, and it's turned out well. If you feel like responding, great. If not, I'll see you at MH :)

Good morning, Everyone!

I'm a total newbie at virtual networking, but finding out how much fun it is to stay connected with authors, agents, and publishing colleagues online. In January I'll be giving a new writers workshop on how to use the web for learning more about the biz, so if any of you have more sites to recommend, let me know. So far, Facebook, Forensics & Faith (Brandilyn Collins), and a few other sites like this one have been terrific. I still haven't set up on MySpace or ShoutLife, but I intend to sometime soon.

Have a great day!

Blessings,
Barbara
