An "edgy" book I read this year is Demon, by Tosca Lee. I think it took her over five years to get the thing published.
I couldn't put the book down. At various times over the two days I read the book, I hated it, loved it. It kept me thinking, day and night. That's my definition of edgy...

I think that Thomas Nelson is pushing the edgy envelope lately. Some of the books I have really liked, some not so much. I didn't really care for One Fell Swoop, but am almost finished with Embrace Me by Lisa Samson, which is excellent.
I totally agree about Thomas Nelson pushing the edge. Some of their books seem to push the edge on violence, which seems to bother some people but hasn't turned me off thus far. I have a strong stomach :)
I read the first chapter of Demon at her website and the writing was so good in that first chapter I had to get it. I still haven't read it, but it's definitely on top of my list. Since a couple of my projects also deal with demons, I wanted to see what was out there currently in the CBA. I'm much more familiar with the ABA, so I'm still not sure where I'll fit.
